Community

A Good Neighbor

As a good corporate citizen and neighbor in our Eastern Henrico County community, we strive to be fully compliant with regulations and guidelines and responsive to our neighbors.

We follow guidelines and comply with all zoning, environmental and business requirements.

Above that, we want to have an open dialogue with our neighbors and friends, local schools, and civic groups. If you have a question or comment, please contact us.

Community Giving

Thank you letter from Varina High School

East End Resource Recovery wants to be an active supporter of community organizations, youth sports, and education.

In 2010 we were the primary sponsor of Massey on the River, to benefit the Massey Cancer Center. We also contribute to Boys and Girls Clubs, environmental organizations and community groups. For a more detailed information about our community contributions, please see our donor list.

If your organization has a community giving request, please contact us.

Improvements to Site

The company continues to make physical improvements to the site, particularly visual improvements along Darbytown Road. Berms, plantings and fences have been installed to ensure a visually pleasing buffer zone.

In an effort to keep Darbytown Road clean and reduce dirt residue from trucks, the company installed a wheel wash at this entrance to assist in preventing sedimentation from getting onto Darbytown Road.

Other inclement weather protocols have been established with Henrico County to control truck traffic and possible sedimentation on Darbytown Road. The company is exploring an alternative entrance site to the landfill to reduce traffic and improve road conditions.

Odor Control and Containment

The company prepared an Odor Management Plan to remain proactive and responsive to any situations. The Odor Management Plan includes an evaluation of meteorological conditions conducive to odor generation and migration to assist facility operators in proactively preparing to implement odor control procedures prior to potential off-site odor migration.
